Amherst Fund makes venture capital investments in early stage companies and also makes private equity investments in later stage companies. While we invest carefully to achieve sound returns, we offer flexibility in structuring our investments to best meet the capitalization needs of the companies we fund; our investments have included equity, subordinated debt and senior debt structures where appropriate.

Amherst Fund has invested in a wide range of sectors. Our portfolio has included companies in low tech and high tech manufacturing, drug discovery, medical devices, food manufacturing, quick service restaurants, web and mobile consumer engagement, advanced materials and many others.

Our equity investments may be either controlling or non-controlling investments (we typically require board representation). We have the patience to be strategic about exiting any particular investment to achieve an optimal outcome for the portfolio company and for us; we aren’t bound by a target investment horizon.
